For my final installation in my holiday party looks series, I am focusing today on the Glitzy Girl! This is a woman who likes to sparkle like a 10 carat diamond and is not afraid of drawing attention with bold, shiny, over-the-top statement pieces. For my Glitzy Girl look, I chose a beaded jacket straight out of the 80s that I found at a thrift store for $15! As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect statement piece to make a simple black outfit look like a million bucks! (While I was taking this picture an older woman was sitting on a bench right next to me, just staring as if I had arrived on a spaceship from outer space. So, the moral of the story is that a beaded jacket is perfect for a holiday party. Not so much for a Sunday afternoon in the suburbs.)
Sequin Dress
Nothing says sparkle like a dress covered entirely in sequins! These dresses are designed to skim the body, but they are very flattering as the heavy embellishment keeps any lumps or bumps concealed. I love these dresses paired with a jacket of contrasting texture…fur, feathers, or velvet are perfect options. With all of the action happening in your dress and jacket, be sure to keep your shoes and jewelry simple. I like a clean, simple sandal to lengthen the legs and delicate jewelry pieces with sequin dresses.
Sequin Jacket or Pants
Wearing your embellishment on a jacket or pair of pants is a perfect alternative for women who hate dresses. I have linked several amazing options for you, but your local thrift store is also a great place to find this at an affordable price! (We have come full circle and the clothing of my youth is now considered vintage) With a heavily embellished jacket, keep the rest of your outfit simple with solid black pants or a simple black sheath dress. I also love switching the sequins up to the bottom half of the body and pairing them with a fun peplum top or blazer. If you are concerned about having coverage for the bum with sequin leggings, a long tunic sweater would also look great!
Metallics
There are so many fun ways to incorporate metallics into your holiday look, from an entire dress made of metallic fabric to a more subtle silver or gold shoe. I love the idea of taking a simple black dress that you already have in your closet and updating it for 2017 with a shiny pair of metallic booties and a sparkly clutch. Whether you prefer silver or gold, these are looks that can be created without spending a lot of money!
